Treatment of ambrosia - MAPS

  • The maps are spatial layout of sites where the plant of ambrosia has been treated mechanically and chemically in 5 local self-governments of AP Vojvodina. The flags show the exact GPS coordinates of sites under ambrosia which has been treated. The treatment of ambrosia is a complex task requiring perennial activities.


    Physical measures of treatment involve, first of all, mechanical treatment - mowing. Different types of mowers are used for that purpose. The mechanical treatment is especially important in developed areas, furthermore around residential and business edifices, maternity hospitals, schools, nurseries.


    Ambrosia is chemically treated by herbicides. Chemical treatment is used at places where mowing cannot be performed, thus chemical substances are used. The substances are toxically and eco-toxically friendly and non-toxic to the environment and people. The substances are used outside urban areas.
